"To be a missionary you don't have to cross the sea, you just have to see the cross." - Mark Cahill

A question to ask yourself..."How have I loved today?" Have I demonstrated Christ's love to those around me?

2 Corinthians 5:14-15

"For the love of Christ constraineth us; because we thus judge, that if one died for all, then were all dead; And that he died for all, that they which live should not henceforth live unto themselves, but unto him which died for them, and rose again."

"God's Grace is Enough"

I'm so thankful that God's grace is always enough to get us through!

Praying for so many who have recently lost loved ones, whether unexpectedly or otherwise. God's grace is sufficient in every trial - in every sorrow - in every aspect of our lives! May we always trust Him to carry us through!

"I Will Wait"

"I Will Wait"

There are times spent deep in shadows when the path ahead's unclear
And the storm clouds seem to taunt me bringing naught but dread and fear.
And there are times I lack assurance that I've taken the right way,
Then I hear a whisper in my soul, "My child, stand strong, have faith, obey."

So I will wait on the Lord
He will renew my strength.
I will press on - soar as on eagle's wings;
I'll stay the course - I will not faint.

Sure it's hard to wait for answers when the questions pile up high.
The uncertainties and worries plague my doubts and stubborn pride.
And sure it's easy just to lose it; it's much harder to be still.
But it's in that time of stillness I draw near to God and trust His will.

I will wait - my faith is grounded on the faithfulness of God.
I will lay aside my burdens knowing my God is standing strong.
For He has promised to be with me in the night as in the day.
Ev'ry step I leave to His control; I trust He'll guide me all the way.

It's Enough to be with Jesus

It's Enough to be with Jesus
It's enough to be with Jesus -
I don't need the fame or wealth
That the world clamors for each day
At the altar of itself.
It's enough to be with Jesus -
The quiet moments spent with Him
Are worth more than gold and silver -
More than all this world can give.
It's enough to be with Jesus -
Give me time spent in God's Word
More than time spent hard and wasted
On fleeting pastimes of this world.
It's enough to be with Jesus -
Give me Jesus - Him alone.
Strip me of all selfish pride, Lord.
On my knees I stay before Your throne.
It's enough to be with Jesus -
And though I should stand alone,
He's still enough; He's all I need.
I am His and He's mine own.
It's enough to be with Jesus -
Give me Jesus night and day.
Whether struggling or rejoicing,
Give me Jesus all the way.
It's enough to be with Jesus -
It's enough to follow Him.
I can trust Him now and always.
He has my heart - for Him I'll live.

God's Way and God's Time!

I'm sure I'm not the only one who wishes sometimes that I could just see all the "how's" and "when's" and "where's" of life. I know from experience how difficult waiting can be! I know the feeling of longing and uncertainty - of knowing and trusting God's will for my life, yet all the while not knowing how (and sometimes wondering if) it will ever be accomplished - or when! I know how it is to wish that God would just answer a prayer "right now!" Waiting is hard. Trusting is hard. Not knowing is hard.

It's amazing to look back and see all the different steps in life leading up to the point where the Lord has led me today. It hasn't always been an easy road, but it's been the best road because it has been the path God has for me! I still sometimes wish I could see the next step (or 2!) in life, but I know that God has it all in His control! And I can trust Him with that! And I choose to trust Him with that - no matter how unknown and uncertain the future may seem at any given moment!

I was doing some organizing the other day, and I came across a poem that I had written in 2009. I wasn't sure if I really wanted to share it or not, but the Lord really laid it on my heart to share it - so here it is!

My feet may still be stateside,
But my heart's on Swedish shore
Where people - lost - are dying
Having never known the Lord.

I want so bad to reach them,
But the waiting is so long.
It seems sometimes so hopeless -
And it's hard to just be strong.

I'm homesick for a country,
For a people far away.
I'm crying and I'm pleading
For the Lord to make a way.

O God, I long to get there,
For these people need to see
That You are what they're missing.
Lord, You are what they need.

So please, God, I am praying
That You'll open up a door.
Please get me to Your calling -
To that distant Swedish shore.

- Nov 2009

I've been in Sweden now for nearly 2 1/2 years! And all I can say is "Praise the Lord!" I'm thankful for how God has led - and continues to lead - in my life! I'm thankful for the perfectness of His timing.

I know the journey isn't over! Only God knows the steps that lie ahead for me. But even when I struggle with the unknown or with the waiting - I know that God's way and time is best! And I will trust Him with my life!

To God be the glory!

When the Rains Descend

When the Rains Descend
Go ahead and grab your umbrella, because in life, there will be times when you journey through the storms. You see, in this world in which we live, the rains will fall. That is a guarantee. Trials will come - and they are going to come to everyone. Just because you are a Christian, don't think for a moment that life is going to be easy. There will still be pain, sorrow, and heartache. The good news, however, is that, as a Christian, you do not have to weather these storms alone. You have a solid foundation in Christ.

When the Rains Descend is a collection of poems written to be an encouragement to you as you face the downpours of life. May you rest in the Lord and grow closer to Him day by day.
